Well, I got my gold taken out today and replaced with porcelain. It was a pretty cool process. They take photos of the tooth and then a modeling program builds the suggested shape for the crown by looking at the existing tooth and combining it with one from the “tooth library”. Then, this porcelain cube on a post gets cnc milled to shape, leaving a tiny stem that is cut off after. I even got to keep my gold and it just so happens to have a little hole large enough to fit a chain through it. Jealous?

Emilie found a presentation we did for Professional Practices from back in the day. It’s kind of amazing. Everything about it is bad which is even more magical because it was 80% joke. Good thing Tom Becher had a sense of humor. Here are a few prized pages but check out the rest if you really want an education in dealing with clients.
the worst fonts ever. we just got as close as we could to the book cover
now that I actually make a lot of diagrams, this one is painful.
Probably my favorite page

I love the way she uses her voice in this song, and the video is sort of stellar.

I’ve been prepping for painting. I started scraping off the texture stuff in the bathroom but I’ll just leave that section. I think I’ll also take down the “bedroom” doors. Everything will be bright white and I’m painting the ceiling fan too.

New Love

I saw this gold on Dezeen. It’s furniture upholstered in leather scraps. It’s made by Studio Pepe Heykoop. I have a feeling you know of them already, but I also feel like it’s a good time to fall in love all over again. And if the projects don’t win you over (esp. A Chair?), the slightly broken English captions just might.

FULLER’S RESTAURANT

My mom and I went to Fuller’s for lunch today. It’s a little diner we used to eat at whenever I would go to work with her when I was little . We had burgers and fries (the usual) and the owner was there and remembered her and the other ppl she worked with. She even gave us a loaf of the house made bread. Probably haven’t been there in almost 20 years but it looks the same. They even still have Andes chocolate mints at the counter. Next time all you fools are in town we are going there. Amanda, bring your camera.
(what it looked like before I ever went there)
